Identical Twins DNA Profile in Forensic Investigation A Case Report
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Identical twins, or monozygotic twins descend from a single fertilized ovum and therefore
are genetically identical, that’s why in forensic genetics there is a famous sentence says
((No two people have the same DNA profile alike except in the identical twin)) in contrast
to finger-print and bite mark which are known in forensic to be non identical or even similar
in any identical twin pair.
We report here the 1st case of human remain identification done using a reference
biological sample from identical twin brother whose DNA profile matched 100% with that
of unknown, deformed, burned corpse referred to Medico-legal Institute in Baghdad after
an explosion happened in Baghdad in 4/4/2010.
